Hugh has been obsessed with interior design since at least the age of 13, when his Aunty Rona asked him “what are you interested in?” and he told her “interior decorating.”  He still owns the book she gave him and treasures it as a symbol of being seen and accepted at a young age.  He used some of his Bar Mitzvah money to have his bedroom professionally redecorated.  He must have been “born this way.” : )

Hugh has been decorating homes for himself and for friends ever since.  He has spent the last 25 years designing large and small events as owner of Hugh Groman Catering, and loves the experience of envisioning and creating spaces and environments that impact the experience, the ease and the good feelings of those who live and play there.  He is especially skilled at maximizing flow and positive energy, with an emphasis on lighting, color, pattern and finding the “unexpected choices” to give life and vibrancy to a space.

Hugh Groman lives in Berkeley, California with his husband Noah and in his spare time enjoys playing with his doggies and watching home renovation television and the Real Housewives of wherever!
